Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Maeve. She lived in a small village in the heart of the forest, surrounded by trees and wildlife. Maeve was kind and gentle, with a heart full of love and a spirit that was free.

One day, as Beltane approached, Maeve decided to go into the forest to gather flowers. She wanted to make a garland to wear in her hair, so she could celebrate the holiday in style. As she wandered through the woods, she came across a clearing. In the center of the clearing was a circle of stones, and in the center of the circle was a fire.

Maeve was curious, so she approached the fire. As she got closer, she saw a young man sitting by the flames. He was handsome and strong, with eyes as green as the leaves on the trees. Maeve felt her heart skip a beat, and she knew that she had found true love.

The young man smiled at Maeve and invited her to sit by the fire. They talked for hours, sharing stories and laughter. As the night wore on, the fire burned low, and the stars came out. Maeve and the young man sat close together, watching the flames dance.

As the first light of dawn appeared on the horizon, the young man stood up. He took Maeve’s hand and led her to the edge of the clearing. There, he kissed her gently on the lips and whispered in her ear, “Sometimes we find love for only a day, and sometimes for a lifetime. Goodbye, sweet Maeve.”

With that, the young man disappeared into the forest, leaving Maeve alone with her thoughts. She knew that she had found true love, and that she would never forget the magic of that Beltane night. Each year at Beltane, she looked for the man, but he never came again.
